I should be out getting my drink on, instead I am at home by myself.
Sometimes I wish that I didn’t work/intern as much as I do, because then I’d actually have time to spend with friends.
And maybe I’d have more friends too….maybe even a significant other.
Sometimes I’m afraid I am too career orientated and that it is holding me back from other life experiences.
I guess I just hate being alone.
Story of my life.
I flippin’ hate spending forever shaving my legs only to have nothing happen. But when I don’t shave my legs, I always end up having like 3843 boys all over me.

Congrats! Welcome to the EMS Family :)
I remember being super excited when I got my Basic License, then I found out that no one really hires Basics. That was a HUGE bummer to me at first, since I though that I was going to get jobs left and right! But since I was going to continue my training, it didn’t really make a difference to me.
Paramedics are USUALLY going to be more desirable due to their scope of practice. But it all depends on the agency you want to work for.
There are Fire Departments out there that are BLS agencies that only hire Basics. You have the ILS agencies that hire Basics and Intermediates. And then you have your ALS agencies that hire all three.
What is nice about the ALS agencies is that there is room to move up in. You can start as a basic and work your way up to being a Medic and stay on the same department. They will work around your course schedule and you even get some awesome practice on the job as well!!
If the agency you want to work for is an ALS agency, you might want to get your Fire training done first. I say this because in certain departments, they will give you time after you are hired to complete your medic course, or even to start it.
But this is my take on it, I really do not think there is a right or wrong way to do it!
If anyone else wants to add something, please feel free to do so :)
YES.
And I’d feel 1000 times cooler driving the rig. Hell, I’d be singing along!!!
